Our boobs continue to change
Our boobs are wonderful and we all have a unique shape, some of us carry across, some more out front and some of us need more support, so we don’t find using a tape measure much use to find your bra size.
Instead, we prefer to provide you with the knowledge and take us with you to find your perfect fit.
1. The under band aka‘shelf’ should be firm but comfortable
Theunder band is where most of the support comes from, think of it as a shelf for your boobs. It should sit horizontal around your body as if you were to draw aneat line around your body. It should not ride up or dig into your body.
2. The wires should lie flat against your chest
The wires between your boobs should lie flat without digging in, rubbing or poking out. If you trace the wire with your finger, it should sit on your ribcage (not your boob!) all the way round to your armpit. The wires shouldn’t slip down as you move or lift away if you raise your arms.
3. Your boobs should sit
fully enclosed in the cup of the bra/swimwear
The best trick to ensure your boobs are sitting fully enclosed is to lift them in from the front and with a little wiggle and jiggle. Then use your two index fingers place them between your boobs in the middle and spread them outwards to make sure the wire at the front is sitting against your chest. You should fill the cups without any bulging or wrinkling and there should be a smooth line, with no ridge, where the top and the side of the fabric ends.
We advise you to start by visiting our swimwear measurement chart to help you find your bra size.
If you find the band is too tight or you are just on the cusp this is because swimwear doesn’t have the 3 hook bra extension and is made tighter to last longer against the elements of the sun and surf.
Some women feel more comfortable going up a back size, if you prefer to do this remember to go up a cup size smaller.
This is called your SISTER SIZING as the bust volume is the same.
Example: if you are a 10F and find the back is too tight or small and want a loser fit then you should try a 12E = UP IN THE BACK, DOWN IN THE CUP
You do need to bear in mind that you will compromise on support if you go up a back size though – it’s your choice to make.
WHEN YOUR UNDERBAND IS NOT FITTING WELL
Riding up and I keep pulling it down
Yourunderband should stay horizontal during the day, so if it’s riding up then trya smaller back size.
REMEMBER this will change the cup size, you will needto go UP in the cup, please see below…
WHEN YOUR BOOBS KEEP SNEAKING UNDERNEATH YOUR BRA
There’stoo much room around the underband, try a smaller back size.
REMEMBER this will change the cup size and you willneed to go UP in the cup, please see below…
HHHMM MY WIRES DON’T SEEM TO FIT WELL WHAT DO I DO?
WIRES DIGGING IN TO YOUR BREAST TISSUE?
Wewant to avoid the wires digging into your breast tissue, the wire should fitflat against your ribcage all the way round, so try a bigger cup size or adifferent style.
WIRES ARE NOT SITTING FLAT BETWEEN YOUR BOOBS?
Thewire needs to sit flat between your boobs, if there isn’t enough room in thecups, your boobs will push the wires away from you. You need to try a biggercup size.
WHEN YOUR WIRES START SLIPPING DOWN OR LIFTING AWAYWHEN I LIFT MY ARMS UP?
Whenthe wires aren’t flat to your ribcage it means there’s too much room in theback. Try a smaller back size.
REMEMBER this will change the cup size. Please seebelow…
I DON’T THINK MY CUPS ARE FITTING RIGHT
THE MUFFIN TOP OF BRAS/SWIMWEAR
If your boobs are spilling over the front or side then the volume of the cups is too small, so try a bigger cup size.
EXCESS VOLUME IN THE BRA AT THE TOP OR STARTING TO FORM A WRINKLE EFFECT
When you get excess material/ wrinkle effect in at the top this means that yourboobs are not filling the cup enough. There is too much room in the cups, so try going down a cup size. Or, try a style balconette style this is the most common bra shape to fit most.
OTHER FACTORS THAT THE BRA/SWIMWEAR MIGHT NOT BE FITTING RIGHT
THE STRAPS START SLIDING
Straps will loosen due to the elasticity in the straps, try tightening the straps or try a full cup style with more centered straps.
THE STRAPS KEEP DIGGING IN – OUCH
When the straps start digging in they tend to mean that they are taking all thestrain and the underband is not doing it job. Try a smaller back size or a style that has 20mm straps
IS ONE BOOB BIGGER THAN THE OTHER OR IS JUST ME?
Not,it's not just you, most of us have one boob bigger than the other. Fit to the bigger boob.
